Launching ceremony of the Master’s double degree program in Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the French-Georgian University – September 16, 2020

On the occasion of the 112th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Tbilisi, on September 16, 2020 His Excellency M Diégo Colas, French Ambassador hosted the launching ceremony of the Master’s double degree program in Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the French-Georgian University (FGU) at the Residence of France, Tbilisi.

The event took place in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Georgia Ms. Nunu Mitskevichi, the Rector of Tbilisi State University Mr. Giorgi Sharvashidze, the Head of Mission of Tourism Promotion of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Didier Jean as well as representatives of the UNWTO, the French Embassy, ​​the French Institute in Georgia and other FGU partner organizations. French-Georgian University students of the Master’s in Tourism were also invited to the opening ceremony and were able to exchange with the FGU coordinator Mr. David Teurtrie and the Georgian program director Mr. Ioseb Khelashvili.

This French-Georgian program is supported by the Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the Lumière Lyon II University. Drawing on French expertise in this field, it is aimed at students who wish to pursue a career in the tourism sector by showcasing Georgia’s rich tangible and intangible cultural heritage. This new master’s degree is one of the first double degrees launched within the framework of the French-Georgian University (FGU).
